Scratchboard Artwork goes Germany!

The three scratchboard drawings below, 'Just Down the Road', 'Winter Moonrise', and 'Hillside Garden', have been purchased by a customer in Germany. I now have art in two countries outside the United States: Germany and Italy. I've been a bit hesitant about selling and shipping my art outside of the USA. Figuring out the best way to ship, calculating the cost, having my artwork go thru customs and waiting for it to arrive safely to its new owner, left me wondering if it was worth it. USPS Priority Mail makes the shipping decision part of it easier now. And though there are some countries I probably wouldn't ship to, and I still have customs to deal with, the excitement of having my art in another country makes it worth a little bit of stress. :o) Click on the images to be taken to their webpage for more information. And as always, you can contact me with any comments or questions you might have.

'Stormy' Scratchboard Art

This original miniature scratchboard artwork is titled 'After the Storm'. The scratchboard size is 4 in x 6 in. Though I have created an image similar to this drawing in the past, that drawing was 8 in x 10 in. This smaller board provided much more of a challenge to create the same effect, though it did take much less time. :o) Click on the image to be taken to its webpage for more information. Owl Scratchboard Art

This original scratchboard artwork is titled 'Great Gray Owls'. The scratchboard size is an unusual 6 in x 18 in. I enjoy the design challenges of working in this size. It isn't just about the subject matter in the drawing, it is about utilizing the space and keeping it interesting. Winter Sunset Scratchboard

My art for this post is an original miniature scratchboard artwork titled 'Evergreen Sunset'. The scratchboard size is 3 1/4 in x 4 1/4 in. This is another drawing using the snowcovered evergreen theme. I created it to use for my 2004 holiday card. This tiny miniature artwork was done with an exacto blade on black scratchboard. Broad strokes of the blade removed the black ink to create the snow and to allow large areas of color. For the color, I used a small brush to apply opaque watercolor, allowing the brush strokes to remain visible to create drama in the sky against the black. Watercolor was also used to create some of the lighter shadowing. As always, you can contact me with any comments or questions you might have.

Winter Scratchboard Miniature

My art for this post is an original miniature scratchboard artwork titled 'Winter Woods'. The scratchboard size is 4 in x 6 in. This winter drawing is one of the many versions I have created using the idea of dense evergreen forest covered in a thick layer of snow. In this drawing the source of illumination is the moon. ACEO Winter Scratchboard Drawing

My art for this post is an original miniature ACEO scratchboard artwork titled 'Mountain Winter'. The scratchboard size is 2 1/2 in x 3 1/2 in. It has always fascinated me the way that snow can completely transform a landscape. And where there are heavy snows, like in the mountains, the change is even more dramatic. Landmarks look different or are completely hidden by a blanket of snow. Click on the image to be taken to its webpage for more information and detail images. Yule Scratchboard Drawing

My art for this post is an original miniature ACEO scratchboard artwork titled 'Ornament Swag'. The scratchboard size is 2 1/2 in x 3 1/2 in. This is another image highlighting holiday greenery. I've added several glass ball ornaments, some of which I created using gold and silver metallic acrylic paint. Though the metallic doesn't not show up as well on this digital image as it does on the original. Click on the image to be taken to its webpage for more information and detail images. Holiday Scratchboard Drawing

My art for this post is an original miniature ACEO scratchboard artwork titled 'Wreath and Ribbon'. The scratchboard size is 2 1/2 in x 3 1/2 in. One of my favorite parts of holiday decorating is all the greenery. Not only is it festive, but I can leave much of it up thru January. ;o) Click on the image to be taken to its webpage for more information and detail images. Miniature Santa Scratchboard Drawing

It's time to get into the holiday spirit, so my art for this post is an original miniature scratchboard artwork titled 'Holly Santa'. The scratchboard size is 4 in x 5 in. I created this drawing to use on my holiday cards. I love the whimsical feel that I gave this jolly Santa. And I also like the woodcut effect that it has. Elk Miniature Scratchboard Drawing

My art for this post is an original miniature scratchboard artwork titled 'Elk Bull'. Elk are huge animals and are very impressive when you see them up close out in the wild. The scratchboard size is 4 in x 6 in, and would look great in a grouping with Whitetail Buck, Mule Deer Buck, and Pronghorn Antelope.
